Enjoy the comfort of having scans close to home, Sunday mornings and weekday evenings, without disrupting your work or other scheduled tasks.
All ultrasound scans are performed by qualified Gynaecologists and Consultants.
We perform general Gynaecological and Fertility scans, including Follicular tracking, 3D saline scans (SIS) and HyCoSy.
You can receive a printed report (+prescription if relevant) immediately after the scan.
Reports and images can be e-mailed to your referring physician or your normal GP.
The idea of setting up a private ultrasound clinic in North London had begun to take form in late 2012, and much research and efforts have been spent since then to provide clients with the unparalleled care we provide today.
The first ultrasound session took place on 9th May 2016, and the clinic was firmly established at its present location the following year on 16th May 2017 under the leadership and direction of Mr. Dimitrios Mavrelos.
The clinic, located in the heart of Stamford Hill, has brought renewed hope to couples who want to have children, as it offers consultations and treatment for a variety of gynaecological and fertility-related issues.
Patients from the local communities are now able to undergo necessary scans and tests in a timely and efficient manner, with minimal disruption to their lives, as there is no longer a need to travel from North London to the West End etc. to meet a consultant or have an ultrasound scan.
Our staff are of the very highest calibre, indeed it has taken nearly four years to recruit such exceptional individuals. The clinic is run by Mr Dimitrios Mavrelos, Consultant Gynaecologist at The UCLH Hospital.
Besides for fertility and Gynae. scans, the clinic provides Early Pregnancy Scans within the First Trimester.
On 7th November, 2017, Nova broadened its scope further to include Male Ultrasound Scans, with Dr. Steven Moser joining the team. Dr. Moser, besides being an interventional radiologist performing delicate procedures, is also an expert on male urological ultrasound (scrotum, testicles, prostate) and what is known as ‘small parts’ (liver, thyroid, kidney etc.). Instead of men having to travel afar to have investigations done, Dr. Moser comes to Nova at frequent intervals for consultation and scans, performing Scrotal, Transrectal as well as Pelvic scans, and should he see the need for corrective intervention, he then sees the patient at The Wellington Hospital or The London Clinic where he can perform Uni or Bilateral Varicocele Embolisation.
In a survey sent to tens of Nova patients, the replies were all 100% statisfactory re. the expectations the patients had from the doctors. Still, we strove to improve our service even further, and instituted a prescription dispensing service, whereby the patient receives most prescribed medications at the end of the visit, and this way medication can be started immediately, instead of waiting for prescriptions to be filled at the local chemist – which can take up to three days to fill (i.e. specialist fertility drugs). We have also engaged the services of our local GP Practice Nurse, who does home visits even late in the evening, to administer injections as needed.
Any Fertility treatment which does not require an on-site lab or an operative theatre, can be undertaken at Nova. Our doctors can perform 3D saline infusion sonograms, check fallopian tubal patency with HyCoSy expanding foam, do routine internal Speculum exams, etc. If needed, our doctors refer patients onward to the local hospital for Polyp removal, Bone density scan, or any other procedure which cannot be carried out on-site at Nova.
Mr. Mavrelos is a prime disciple of Mr Davor Jurkovic, the founder of Harley Street’s “Gynae. Ultrasound Centre”, and our aim is that Nova should continue to provide Harley Street service, locally, without compromise on service or quality. The setup at the clinic is very professional, and Mr. Mavrelos ensures continued consistent professionalism by the introduction of treatment protocols and very clear-set health & safety guidelines. The centre is periodically reviewed by the CQC, and meets its approval.
